Real Madrid aim to sign Arnold

The management of Real Madrid is reportedly trying to make Liverpool a new offer during the current winter transfer window in order to recruit star Trent Alexander-Arnold, according to a rumor in an English tabloid.

Real Madrid said during the winter transfer window that it would be prepared to pay 20 to 25 million euros to acquire Arnold from Liverpool. The English team tries to convince the player to extend his contract, which expires next summer, but they categorically reject the offer.

According to “The Times” in England, Real Madrid is considering launching a new attempt this season to strengthen its ailing lineup.

There have been speculations over Arnold’s future because his current contract with the English club expires next summer. His age is 26.

According to the British news source “PA Media,” the Madrid powerhouses have begun to test Liverpool’s strength by asking whether they may sign the English right-back, who could be available for free in six months.

Alexander-Arnold is not for sale, according to reports, and Liverpool has stated that they would like to sign a new contract with him.

Although Arnold has not said that he wants to leave his English team, Liverpool’s management is hoping for a hot summer because Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, two of the team’s best players, have contracts that are due to expire.

Arnold can agree to sign with another club beginning on January 1, 2025, therefore Real Madrid’s move is a cautious one.

Former Liverpool star Michael Owen believes that the timing of Real Madrid’s move confirms the intentions of the Spanish club.

Owen wrote on his official account on the (X) platform: “Real Madrid revealed its intentions to sign Arnold, which leads me to believe that the player’s transfer to Spain is only a matter of time.”

The English star added: “If Arnold had the intention to renew with Liverpool, Real Madrid would not have moved to try to officially sign him.”

Real Madrid is suffering from a crisis in the right-back position, after Dani Carvajal was injured and absent for the rest of the current season, and there is no alternative other than Lucas Vazquez.

Real Madrid officials feel they have an advantage in their negotiating position, as they believe Alexander-Arnold will sign a pre-contract with them if he does not join in January and activate it next summer.
