Following their “Generations Fight” in Texas, USA, media outlets have reported that Mike Tyson and Jake Paul will be prohibited from boxing for a certain amount of time.
By a unanimous decision, YouTuber Paul defeated former world heavyweight champion Tyson in the bout.
Paul, 27, won the bout by a wide margin of points (80-72, 79-73, 79-73), while Tyson, 58, was unable to deliver any big blows.
According to statistics, Tyson was able to land 18 punches out of 97 attempts, whereas Paul was only able to land 78 out of 278.
As required by law, the two boxers plan to resume their careers in the ring, but for the time being they will have to take a break.
The British publication “Mirror” reported that following their eight-round professional bout, Paul and Tyson would be prohibited from fighting for seven days.
In order to give both fighters enough time to heal from any fight-related injuries, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which supervised the bout, will suspend them for one week.
“A boxer’s medical disqualification is for his own safety and may be made under the recommendation of the examining physician,” the regulatory body stated.
Under the rules, both fighters are required to rest for three days per round, with a longer period if one of them is knocked out or technically knocked out.
The body added: “A boxer who does not agree with the disqualification, medical suspension or rest period specified, in the discretion of the ringside physician, may request a hearing to show evidence of fitness.”
Paul won $40 million, while Tyson received $20 million.
